Site for the Partial Ashes of Su Yu: Su Yu once served as Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Minister of National Defense, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and Standing Committee member of the Central Advisory Commission of the Communist Party of China. During his lifetime, he expressed the wish that after his death, his ashes be scattered on the lands where he had fought frequently, to remain forever with his comrades who lay at rest there. The Battle of Huangqiao was a miracle in the history of our military, where he and General Chen Yi achieved victory against overwhelming odds. Therefore, following his passing, under the direct arrangement of the Central Military Commission and personally escorted by his wife, Comrade Chu Qing, a portion of his ashes were brought to Huangqiao and scattered here. A memorial tombstone was erected in his honor.
