Lizhong Water Forest Ecological Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Lizhong Water Forest Ecological Park is an artificial ecological forest base, initially established in the early 1980s, covering a total area of 18,894 mu. The currently developed area spans 1,500 mu, including 1,050 mu of forested land, with 100,000 trees such as metasequoia and bald cypress planted, forming a tall, dense, and vibrant water forest. The current timber volume is 15,000 cubic meters, increasing at a rate of 12% per year. Unlike conventional tree planting methods, Lizhong Water Forest adopts a unique three-dimensional model of “forest mounds, ditches, and fish,” creating a distinctive water town landscape where “there is water within the forest, fish within the water, and birds within the forest.” Bird species such as owls, wild ducks, egrets, black cuckoos, grass parakeets, and mountain grosbeaks have increased by more than 10 types compared to the past, with the peak bird population reaching over 60,000 and typically around 30,000. It is currently the largest artificial wetland forest ecosystem in the Li-Xia River region. In the height of summer, the park is filled with towering trees, dappled shade, flocks of birds, refreshing breezes, and the fragrance of plants, offering visitors a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. Experts from six renowned institutions, including the Provincial Tourism Bureau, East China Normal University, and Tongji University in Shanghai, have conducted on-site investigations and evaluations, concluding that it is one of the most promising tourism development areas in Taizhou City. Each year, the park attracts no fewer than 20,000 visitors from both China and abroad for inspiration-seeking, fishing, lotus viewing, and sketching.

The park has invested heavily in developing numerous auxiliary facilities to enhance visitor experience, including winding wooden boardwalks, rustic wooden tables and chairs, stone bridges spanning the water, and pavilions towering above. Various structures are dotted among the green trees and clear waters. To allow visitors to experience the charm of the water town, the park regularly hosts performances such as wild duck releases and cormorant fishing, offering an authentic taste of the leisurely pleasure described in the phrase “wild ducks resting on the shore exude tranquility, old trees in bloom show no unattractive branches.” These also provide excellent photographic material for photographers from across the country capturing pastoral scenes. After sightseeing, visitors can also enjoy authentic local water town cuisine in the park’s small wooden cabins, featuring fresh river delicacies and traditionally prepared poultry and waterfowl, combining nutrition and flavor. The blend of delicious food and beautiful scenery creates an experience where one might lose track of time.

Ticket Information:

Park admission is 50 RMB, raft drifting is 40 RMB, and a combined ticket is 90 RMB. Student ID holders receive a half-price discount only on park admission (25 RMB), with no discount on raft drifting. Active-duty military officers, people with disabilities, and seniors aged 70+ from Jiangsu Province (with valid ID) are exempt from park admission fees but receive no discount on raft drifting. Children under 1.2 meters are exempt from both park admission and raft drifting fees.
