Scenic Spot Introduction

Legend has it that Qianduo was an Eight Trigrams formation set up by Yue Fei, then prefect of Taizhou, when battling the Jin army. With an average elevation of less than 2 meters, Xinghua’s farmland is prone to waterlogging. In dry seasons, locals would dig up silt from low-lying areas and pile it up on higher ground, creating small island-like fields in the water. These fields vary in size and shape, are unconnected to one another, and are accessible only by boat.

Looking across the fields, crisscrossed waterways and isolated plots resemble islands floating on the water, earning the area the reputation of a “country of ten thousand islands.” Around the Qingming Festival, when the rapeseed flowers bloom, the blue sky, clear waters, and golden “islands” weave together a spectacular scene described as “a river with myriad bends of emerald water, and not a single field without golden blooms,” hence its title as the “World’s Most Beautiful Rapeseed Flower Sea.”
