Yingshan Tou Site

The Yingshan Tou Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

The largest Neolithic cultural site in the Jianghuai region of China. One of the most important Neolithic sites in the Jianghuai region of Jiangsu Province. Dated to approximately 5,500 to 6,300 years ago. It was discovered during the third national cultural relics survey conducted from April 2007 to November 2009. On January 18, 2010, it was announced as one of the top ten new discoveries of the third national cultural relics survey in Jiangsu Province.

Xinghua Yingshan Tou is located in Weizhuang West Village, Linhu Township, Xinghua City (about two li southeast of Weizhuang), bordering the Bai Tu River to the south. The measurable site area is approximately 150,000 square meters. The cultural layers are clearly visible in the riverbank profiles, with the thickest layer reaching up to 1 meter. The upper limit dates to the late Neolithic period, and the lower limit is no later than the Han Dynasty. Cultural relics collected from the site include stone tools, pottery, and bone or horn implements. Artifacts consist of stone axes, stone knives, stone spinning wheels, pottery tripods, pottery cauldrons, pottery ? (unidentified vessel), pottery beans, pottery jars, pottery pots, pottery three-legged plates, as well as bone hairpins and bone arrowheads. Natural remains include large terrestrial animals such as elk and domestic pigs, as well as aquatic species like Lamprotula and Corbicula. Some terrestrial animal bones have become sub-fossils, and the overall preservation condition is good.

The discovery of the Yingshan Tou Site is of great significance for exploring and studying the ancient human geography and the development of civilization of the ancestors in the Xinghua region.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as a seventh batch provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.
