Yangpu Bridge

The construction of Yangpu Bridge was one of the key municipal projects aimed at achieving the goal of "a new look in one year, a dramatic transformation in three years."

The Puxi section of Yangpu Bridge is located in the southern part of Yangpu District, extending along Ningguo Road and Huangxing Road, connecting to the Inner Ring Elevated Road at Zhoujiazhui Road. The approach bridge is 1,172 meters long, and the total length of the bridge is 7,654 meters. Like the Nanpu Bridge, it also adopts a double-tower, double-cable-plane cable-stayed bridge structure. Its main span is 602 meters, which is 178 meters longer than the 424-meter main span of the Nanpu Bridge. It surpasses the 1991 world-record holding cable-stayed bridge, the Annacis Bridge in Canada, by 137 meters, and is also 72 meters longer than Norway’s Skarnsundet Bridge, then known as the "new champion of cable-stayed bridges," making it the world's longest cable-stayed bridge at that time.

There are two majestic and towering main towers on the main bridge. Unlike those of the Nanpu Bridge, they are shaped like an inverted diamond, resembling an upside-down Y. The actual height of the main towers is 208 meters, 54 meters taller than those of the Nanpu Bridge. In addition, the decorative elements at the top of the towers are 12 meters high and shaped like a crescent moon. The four bright red Chinese characters “杨浦大桥” (Yangpu Bridge) in the center of the main tower were inscribed by [a notable figure]. Attraction address: No. 88, Lane 2175, Pudong Avenue, Shanghai.
