The Yuqiao Domestic Waste Power Plant serves as a patriotic education base.

The Yuqiao Domestic Waste Power Plant was invested in by the Pudong Development Group and is jointly operated and managed by the Shanghai Pudong Development Group and the German Fisia Babcock Environment GmbH. It is the first modern, large-scale municipal solid waste incineration power plant on the Chinese mainland, responsible for the full industrial chain management of waste collection, transportation, incineration, and power generation in the Pudong urban area. The project is designed to process 1,094 tons of domestic waste per day, featuring three waste incineration production lines and equipped with two 8,500 KW/h turbine generator sets. It uses modern technological methods to reduce, detoxify, and recycle ("three treatments") the daily domestic waste generated by 1.2 to 1.5 million residents in the urbanized areas of Pudong New Area. Currently, the average daily power generation is between 350,000 and 400,000 kWh. Through incineration-based power generation, the volume of waste can be reduced by over 95%, and its weight by 80%.
