Shanghai Ethnic Culture Village is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Highlights is a large-scale tourist scenic area built in 1996. Covering an area of 300 acres, it is located in Qingpu, east of the Shanghai Grand View Garden, and borders Dianshan Lake to the east. It has developed distinctive features of “ethnic-style architecture, traditional cultural activities, eco-friendly environments, and local-flavor cuisine.” Introduction The Ethnic Culture Village primarily showcases the customs of ten ethnic villages, including Dai bamboo houses, white pagodas, Burmese temples, the “Kingdom of Women” Mosuo people, carved Bai-style residential buildings, as well as the Torch Festival of the Yi people, the stilted houses of the Miao, the drums of the Wa, the lusheng (reed pipe) music of the Miao, the songs of the Jingpo, the upturned eaves and brackets of the Dong drum towers, wind-and-rain bridges, and Mongolian yurts serving milk tea — all exuding rich ethnic cultural flavors. The village also features a food street offering ethnic dishes and various local snacks. There is also a comprehensive performance venue that stages special programs from different ethnic groups, such as the Peacock Dance of the Dai, the Fire-Walking Performance of the Yi, the Knife Dance of the Jingpo, and the Flower-Pole Climbing of the Miao, along with thrilling competitive events like “cockfighting, horse fighting, and snake fighting.” Transportation You can take Tourist Route 4 directly from Shanghai Stadium, or take buses such as Yuling, Qingpu Tourism, Jing Shen, or the long-distance Hu-Zhu line to Qingpu Bus Station, then transfer to the “Qingshang Line” bus or minibuses heading to “Qingpu–Shangta” or “Qingpu–Zhouzhuang.” Alternatively, you can take the direct shuttle from the intersection of Madang Road and Jinling Road, departing from Huaihai Road to the Grand View Garden and Shanghai Ethnic Culture Village. Ticket/Opening Hours Admission is 30 RMB, 25 RMB for high school students and above, and 20 RMB for junior high school students and below.
