Qingpu Library

Qingpu Library is a base for patriotic education.

Qingpu Library was first established in December 1959. It has undergone two relocations, and in July 2007, it moved to Puyang Pavilion on Xia Yang Lake. The new library officially opened on August 28. Designed by renowned architect Ma Qingyun, Puyang Pavilion is set against an open rooftop garden, the water scenery of Xia Yang Lake, and the surrounding landscape gardens. This “library on the water” has become the most distinctive and elegantly situated library in Shanghai.

The library houses nearly 400,000 books, over 2,000 types of newspapers and periodicals, as well as a large collection of digital books and electronic journals. Its special collections focus on local Qingpu documents and literature on Wu-Yue culture.

The library features an adult lending room, a children’s lending room, a parent-child reading room, a reference reading room, a newspaper and periodical reading room, an electronic reading area, a lecture hall, and more.

Bus routes:

1. Take Qingpu Route 3 or 6 bus and get off at Xia Yang Lake Station, then walk 150 meters north to reach the library;

2. Take Qingpu Route 2 bus and get off at Qinglong Road Library Station;

3. Take Qingpu Route 9, 14, or Qinglu Line bus and get off at Huqing South Road Station.
