The building housing the Wangchang Memorial Hall is a two-story structure. Stepping into the courtyard, you are greeted by lush green trees, vibrant flowers, and an atmosphere of scholarly tranquility. In the center of the porch on the ground floor hangs a plaque inscribed with the golden characters “Sanmao Fishing Villa” against a black background. On the pillars in front of the porch is a couplet co-authored by Wangchang and his friend Qian Daxin, now hand-written by the local resident Zhong Zejun: Literature truly reaches the heights of Ouyang Xiu and Zeng Gong, while classical studies carry on the legacy of Zheng Xuan and Fu Qian. This means that Wangchang’s literary works reached the level of the great Song Dynasty writers Ouyang Xiu and Zeng Gong, and in classical studies, he inherited the mantle of the Eastern Han Dynasty scholars Zheng Xuan and Fu Qian.

At the center of the entrance hall is a half-length bronze bust of Wangchang, with walls on both sides adorned with display frames featuring introductions about him and samples of his handwriting. The left wing room is the “Jingxun Hall,” while the right wing room consists of the Chunrong Hall and Zhengxue Studio. On the first floor upstairs is a sculpture depicting Wangchang, Qian Daxin, and Liu Yong—three close friends—engaged together in literary discussions and classical studies. The lifelike figures are vividly portrayed. The middle room is Wangchang’s bedroom, furnished with plain quilts and an old bed, simple and unadorned, reflecting his integrity and indifference to fame and wealth as an official. The third room contains two rows of long glass display cabinets showcasing Wangchang’s works such as Jinshi Cuibian, Chunrong Tang Ji, and Taicang Zhi. The backyard features various stone tablets related to Wangchang, including the epitaph he wrote for his friend Qian Daxin. The entire memorial hall is quiet and elegant, exuding a strong cultural ambiance.
