Shanghai’s first ecological manor — Daqian Manor — which took four years to build, has officially opened to the public. Located on the shores of Dianshan Lake in the Jiangnan water town area of Shanghai, it is close to the ancient town of Zhujiajiao in Qingpu. Spanning over 600 acres, including a 400-acre lake and more than 200 acres of land, the manor features 18 ecological islands and a reed marsh that shelters thousands of birds.

The manor is encircled by waterways that serve as its natural boundaries, forming an idyllic retreat that combines scenic landscapes, rural charm, ecological environments, and traditional farm life. Lush greenery within the estate is home to a harmonious community of animals such as sika deer, peacocks, golden pheasants, turkeys, and pearl chickens. Cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, yaks, and camels roam leisurely. The estate also raises thousands of American White King Pigeons and features a world-famous dog exhibition park. Farmers grow a wide variety of vegetables here — including cabbage, celery, leafy greens, and potatoes — offering urban children a rare glimpse into farming life.

Inside Daqian Ecological Manor, dense foliage, winding corridors and bridges, blooming flowers, bountiful fruit trees, birdsong, and frog croaks create a large-scale outdoor leisure destination just outside Shanghai, integrating natural scenery, rural fun, ecological richness, and traditional farm life. The manor boasts an extensive network of waterways and broad lakes that are home to herds of precious wild birds such as white swans, black swans, wild geese, ruddy shelducks, mallards, and mandarin ducks, all in diverse and graceful postures. Near the center of the lake lies a nearly 100-acre natural reed marsh that shelters hundreds of wild egrets and grey herons. The expansive natural lake teems with fish — including crucian carp, carp, grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp — weighing a total of millions of pounds, making it one of Shanghai’s largest natural fishing spots in the suburbs.

The manor's farmsteads brim with vitality. Amidst the lush woods, sika deer, peacocks, golden pheasants, turkeys, and pearl chickens coexist peacefully; cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, yaks, and camels stroll leisurely. The estate houses nearly 10,000 American White King Pigeons and a world-famous dog exhibition park, which are especially popular with children. Fresh produce such as cabbage, celery, leafy greens, and potatoes are grown in the fields, giving urban children a memorable experience. In summer, the hundred-meter grape arbor is heavy with fruit, while the hundred-acre lotus pond bursts into bloom, creating a refreshing and enchanting scene that captivates and delights visitors from the city.
