The Shanghai China Printing Museum serves as a popular science education base and a patriotic education base.

The Shanghai China Printing Museum follows the timeline of modern printing development in Shanghai, with the theme "Printing makes culture more brilliant and the world more civilized." Through thousands of precious historical photos and artifacts, it comprehensively introduces the historical evolution, development overview, and contributions of major Chinese publishing and printing enterprises such as the Commercial Press, Zhonghua Book Company, and printing houses in revitalizing national printing craftsmanship, promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture, and flourishing China’s publishing and printing industry. It also details the origins and development of ancient Chinese woodblock printing and movable type printing. Through the featured activity “How a Book Is Made,” it provides a brief introduction to the characteristics of techniques, equipment, and processes involved in plate-making, printing, and bookbinding. By viewing high-fidelity replicas of Kizil cave temples, murals, and high-fidelity printed artworks, it highlights the innovative applications of modern 3D printing and digital printing in cultural relic reproduction.

The Shanghai China Printing Museum consists of three main exhibition halls—the Printing Exhibition Hall, Ying Art Gallery, and Kizil Murals Gallery—as well as six specialized halls: the Development History Hall, Corporate Culture Hall, Technical Quality Hall, Production Equipment Hall, Printing Knowledge Hall, and Modern Products Hall, along with a Printing Interactive Studio. The total exhibition area covers 3,000 square meters. The Shanghai China Printing Museum is currently recognized as a national, municipal, and Qingpu District popular science education base; a Shanghai thematic science museum; a Shanghai patriotic education base; a Shanghai corporate culture construction demonstration base; a member of the Shanghai off-campus education base industrial civilization alliance; a Qingpu District youth science education base; and a Qingpu District community education experimental base.
