Fushouyuan Humanistic Memorial Park serves as a base for patriotic education.

Shanghai Fushouyuan, currently one of China’s top-tier garden-style cultural and artistic cemeteries, is also a widely acclaimed “humanistic memorial park” both domestically and internationally. The cemetery showcases artistic tomb sculptures, memorial monuments, and calligraphic stone inscriptions from hundreds of elites and notable figures across various fields, including Zhang Shizhao, Cai Yuanpei, Chen Wangdao, Qiao Guanhua, Wen Yiduo, and Pan Hannian. Shanghai Fushouyuan has also officially established the country’s first humanistic memorial museum approved by the Municipal Cultural Relics Management Committee.

The cemetery includes structures such as the Monument Garden for Model Workers, the “Spirit of Criminal Police Memorial Wall,” the New Fourth Army Plaza, the “Shanghai Red Cross Body Donors Memorial Monument,” and the Memorial Group Sculpture of the Seven Gentlemen of the National Salvation Federation. Among these, the Spirit of Criminal Police Memorial Wall stands behind “Jiangnan’s Famous Detective” Duanmu Hongyu, engraved with the names of criminal police officers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Below the police emblem on the memorial wall is a drawn sword—“a golden shield forged with hot blood.” The sword and shield have always been symbols of the guardians of the Republic. The New Fourth Army Plaza was completed in October 2005, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters, and is divided into four sections: granite relief and marble memorial monuments, the New Fourth Army Memorial Wall, the Beacon Tower of the Flame of Patriotism, and the memorial park area.
