The Jinshanfen Ancient Cultural Site is located in Dongtuan Village, Zhengdian Township, Qingpu County. The site was discovered during a cultural relics survey in the early 1960s and extends along both banks of the Dazheng Port. At its center is an irregular, elongated earthen mound stretching approximately 65 meters from east to west, 15–20 meters wide, and about 2 meters high. It is traditionally believed to be the tomb of He Zhizhong, a prime minister of the Song Dynasty. Trial excavations were carried out from December 10 to 23, 1985, involving 11 excavation units covering a total area of 121 square meters within an approximate overall area of 40,000 square meters. The dig uncovered two Neolithic tombs, four ancient wells from various dynasties, 18 ash pits, and 57 cultural relics. The cultural layers at the site can generally be divided into three strata: the upper layer consists of artifacts from the Maqiao Culture of the Shang Dynasty, dating back over 3,000 years; the middle layer includes relics from the Liangzhu Culture of the Neolithic period, around 4,000 years old; and the lower layer contains finds from the Songze Culture of the Neolithic era, approximately 5,000 years old.

Key unearthed items include: watermelon seeds, coriander seeds (cilantro), bottle gourd seeds, rice husks, wooden hooks, and pottery balls discovered in the Song Dynasty wells No. 1 and No. 4, which hold research value for understanding agricultural cultivation and folk customs in Shanghai during the Song Dynasty. Well No. 2 from the Warring States period yielded one double-handled pottery jar with ginger-yellow glaze on a red clay body. Pit No. 5 from the Shang Dynasty contained one hard pottery jar with a concave base, decorated with a grid pattern and black glaze, featuring double handles—an important example of black-glazed stamped pottery from the southern China Shang Dynasty.

The small Liangzhu Culture tomb No. 1 showed clear signs that the human skeleton had been exposed to fire, and one jade conical implement with beast-face patterns in a square column shape was excavated. Tomb No. 2 from the Songze Culture contained artifacts similar in form to those of the Liangzhu Culture, providing tangible evidence for the study of the evolution from Songze to Liangzhu Culture.

Designated as a Protected Cultural Heritage Site of Shanghai Municipality in 1977.
