Heilongjiang University

Heilongjiang University is located in the middle section of Xuefu Road and is a key provincial university. Its predecessor was the Yan'an Foreign Languages Specialized School, which moved to Harbin in 1946 and was renamed Heilongjiang University in 1958.

Heilongjiang University mainly trains research and teaching personnel, as well as other professionals, in the fields of social sciences, natural sciences, and foreign languages. It has 13 departments, 26 majors, 9 research institutes, and 7 teaching and research offices. A total of 27 disciplines offer master's degree programs. Since 1978, the university has invited 70 experts and scholars from countries such as Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the former Soviet Union to teach or give lectures on campus, and has sent over 120 teachers abroad for further studies, degree programs, or to attend academic conferences. In 1990, the university had a total of 1,700 staff members, including 27 professors and 152 associate professors. Between 1958 and 1990, it trained more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students for the country.
