Revolutionary Leaders' Visits to Heilongjiang Memorial Hall
The Revolutionary Leaders' Visits to Heilongjiang Memorial Hall is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a classic red tourism site.
This is an exquisite European-style building in the French Baroque style, featuring a unique architectural style and artistic taste. Its solemn and majestic exterior and the splendid carved artistry inside make it an outstanding representative among Harbin’s many European-style buildings.
The building was constructed in 1919 and completed in 1923, with a history of nearly a hundred years. In 1986, it was listed as a cultural relics protection unit of Heilongjiang Province and a Class I protected building in Harbin. In 1996, it was approved by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In 2005, it was rated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a red tourism site in Harbin.
The functions and scope of the Revolutionary Leaders' Visits to Heilongjiang Memorial Hall include: collecting, exhibiting, and researching the great achievements of Party and state leaders. It also involves gathering, preserving, and promoting the glorious accomplishments of Party and state leaders, organizing temporary exhibitions in response to current developments, and providing patriotic and revolutionary tradition education to various sectors of society.
Currently, the museum has collected nearly 3,000 photos, materials, cultural relics, and documents of collection and exhibition value, including more than 720 precious cultural relics and 26 especially important ones.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, proletarian revolutionaries from the older generation such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Zhang Wentian, and Soong Ching-ling, who were Party and state leaders, worked and lived here during their inspections of Heilongjiang. From February 27 to 28, 1950, Chairman Mao Zedong, accompanied by Premier Zhou Enlai, visited the Soviet Union and, on his way back, personally inspected our province. Here, he inscribed five valuable inscriptions for the provincial and municipal Party committees and the Second Harbin Youth League Congress: “Do not be tainted by bureaucratic practices,” “Study,” “Strive,” “Develop production,” and “Study Marxism-Leninism.” Additionally, the office used by Comrade Mao Zedong, his simple wooden bed, and luggage are displayed. Through these exhibits, visitors can gain insight into the working style of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries—practicing in the field, conducting research, and working diligently under hard conditions.
