Harbin Engineering University Ship Museum

The Harbin Engineering University Ship Museum was established in September 2006, located in the Qihang Activity Center of the university. The exhibition hall covers an area of nearly 1,000 m², with an investment of over one million yuan.

The university’s ship museum uses the development history of ships as its main thread, centers on maritime transport, oceans, coastal defense, and the use of nuclear energy, and highlights China’s “Top Ten Famous Ships.” It offers a comprehensive introduction to the history of ship development and shipbuilding technology, with an emphasis on showcasing major achievements of China’s shipbuilding industry in maritime transport, ocean development, naval equipment, and nuclear energy applications. It integrates functions such as collection, exhibition, education, research, and publicity, forming a museum that is historical, technological, educational, and informative. The museum consists of nine exhibition areas: Introduction, History of Ships, Maritime Transport, Ocean Development, Naval Vessels, Nuclear-Powered Ships, Ship Manufacturing, Figures in Shipbuilding, and the “Top Ten Famous Ships.”

It systematically introduces the development histories of both Chinese and foreign ships, shipbuilding technology, naval development, as well as the histories of important shipyards and design institutes. Nearly 100 valuable ship models, auxiliary facilities, and fittings from China and abroad are displayed. Major historical events and figures related to ships are also introduced.
