Harbin Institute of Technology Aerospace Museum

HIT has long been renowned for its focus on aerospace and national defense. To strengthen students' education in aerospace and defense traditions, popularize aerospace knowledge, and promote the achievements of China's space science and technology and its applications, HIT established the Aerospace Museum.

Some exhibits in the Aerospace Museum were created using models, physical objects, or funds donated by various entities, and the textual content references extensive literature on aerospace and national defense science and technology. The museum was relocated to its new building on June 9, 2007.

The new museum is located on the first floor of the International Conference Center in HIT Science Park. It is divided into indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, housing over 90 aerospace exhibits. The indoor section includes displays on spacecraft, engines, missiles, rockets, the development of China’s and the world’s space programs, space knowledge, and HIT’s contributions to China’s aerospace industry. The outdoor area features a Russian "Zarya" return capsule, a "Long March 1" rocket, a "Dongfeng 2" missile, and a model of the Shenzhou-5 spacecraft.

The Aerospace Museum serves not only as an important teaching and research facility for the School of Aerospace Engineering, but also as a key base for student development and a platform for related technology training and scientific experiments. It is also open to teachers, students, and the general public free of charge, functioning as a comprehensive aerospace science and technology museum that promotes public understanding of aerospace science. It has become an important window for aerospace science education and outreach. In July 2010, the "HIT Aerospace Park," centered around the Aerospace Museum, successfully passed the evaluation for being named a National Defense Science and Technology Industry Military Culture Education Base. In December 2010, the Aerospace Museum was designated as a Provincial Patriotic Education Base by the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and People's Government.
