Harbin Qingbin Park

Qingbin Park is located between Xidazhi Street and Qingbin Road. It is the only park in the bustling Hexing Road area where people can engage in outdoor activities and exercise. With multiple bus connections, the location is very convenient.

The park was first established in 1958 and suffered some damage during the Cultural Revolution. In 1984, the Nangang District government listed park development as one of ten major projects and undertook its reconstruction. After a year of intensive construction, twenty projects were completed, including pavilions, landscape potted plants, trellises, modular flower stands, winding corridors, and latticed walls.

In April 2000, in accordance with the municipal government’s directive, Qingbin Park was transformed into an open-style park. The original fences and buildings were removed, new trees and hedges were planted, lawns were laid out, and facilities such as stone benches and garden lights were installed. The renovation project invested nearly three million yuan, and the redesigned park covers an area of 33,000 square meters.

Over time, many more trees have been planted in the park, increasing from the original 1,000 to the current 5,304, comprising 45 species — including valuable varieties such as Amur cork tree, Manchurian ash, and Manchurian walnut. The park is primarily planted with lilacs, now numbering 2,953 shrubs, along with 185 small-leaved lilac balls. Varieties include white lilac, purple lilac, double-flowered lilac, blue lilac, and small-leaved lilac. When the lilacs are in bloom, their fragrance is delightful. The park's landscaping features distinct layers of plantings, with a well-balanced mix of trees and shrubs, making efficient use of land and space. It highlights the characteristics of a botanical garden and a lilac-themed park. Nearly ten thousand tons of water are used annually for irrigation, ensuring proper plant care and vigorous growth, which has earned praise from visitors.

In 1997, with the approval of the State Council and a planning decision by the municipal government, a statue of revolutionary martyr Jin Jianshao was erected in Qingbin Park. Every year, the park receives groups and individuals who come to pay their respects. On Tomb-Sweeping Day and August 15th, the anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, all staff members of Qingbin Park collectively lay wreaths and hold memorial ceremonies for the revolutionary martyrs.
