The Ship Museum of Harbin Engineering University was built by the university itself and is located in the Qihang Activity Center on campus. The museum covers an area of 0.17 million square meters, with an exhibition hall spanning nearly 1,000 m².

Development History

The Ship Museum of Harbin Engineering University takes the history of ship development as its main thread, with a focus on maritime transport, oceans, coastal defense, and nuclear energy applications. It highlights China’s “Top Ten Famous Ships” and provides a comprehensive introduction to the history of ship development and shipbuilding technology. The museum emphasizes China’s major achievements in the fields of maritime transport, marine development, naval equipment, and nuclear energy utilization. It integrates functions such as collection, exhibition, education, research, and promotion, making it a museum that is historical, technological, educational, and informative.

Architectural Layout

The museum consists of nine major exhibition areas: Introduction, Ship History Exhibition, Maritime Transport Exhibition, Marine Development Exhibition, Naval Vessels Exhibition, Nuclear-Powered Ships Exhibition, Shipbuilding Exhibition, Figures in Shipbuilding Exhibition, and “Top Ten Famous Ships” Exhibition. It systematically presents the history of ship development both in China and abroad, the history of shipbuilding technology, naval development, and the histories of important shipyards and ship design institutes (offices). The museum displays valuable ship models, auxiliary facilities, and equipment from both China and other countries, and introduces significant historical events and figures related to ships.
