Mount Laohei
Introduction: Mount Laohei is one of the most typical volcanoes here, and the highest among the 14 volcanoes. The mountain is towering, with an elevation of 515.9 meters. Its forests are mostly composed of black pumice, hence the name “Laohei” (Old Black Mountain). Hiking trails on the eastern and northern sides lead to the summit, where you’ll find a funnel-shaped crater about 350 meters in diameter and approximately 140 meters deep. The inner walls are steep, creating a solemn and awe-inspiring sight. There are walking paths around the crater, and looking down into the bottom of the crater is both thrilling and intimidating.
