The Lengpiya Site

The Lengpiya Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Hubei Province.

The Lengpiya Site

Located at Lingpiya in Gepianfan Village, Sanligang Town, Suizhou City, this is a Neolithic site. Covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, the cultural layer is about 1.2 meters thick. Red-fired earth is exposed. Collected artifacts include stone axes, spades, adzes, and pottery shards. The pottery shards are mainly made of gray clay, with black clay as the second most common; decorative patterns feature basket weave, pit impressions, diagonal grids, applied ridge patterns, as well as perforations and painted designs; vessel types include tripods, bowls, stemmed dishes, cups, bowls, ewers, basins, jars, vats, and lid knobs. The site belongs to the Qujialing culture and Shijiahe culture. (Second Batch)
