The Site of the Former Jianghan Public School is a classic red tourism destination and a base for patriotic education.

The Site of the Former Jianghan Public School is located in Dujiadian Village, Hongshan Town, Suixian County, Suizhou City, Hubei Province.

The Jianghan Public School was a cadre training institution established in the later stages of the Chinese People's Liberation War in the Jianghan Liberated Area. At that time, as the People's Liberation War transitioned from strategic defense to strategic —, the 12th Column of the Liu-Deng Army, led by Zhao Jiming, Zhang Caiqian, and others, advanced into the Han River basin west of the Pinghan Railway to rebuild the Jianghan Military District. Amidst the rapidly consolidating and expanding liberated areas, educated youths from the Dahuangshan Liberated Area actively joined the revolution, while progressive youths from regions under Kuomintang control also flocked to the Jianghan Liberated Area in search of truth. To meet the needs of revolutionary development and to train a large number of military and political cadres, the Jianghan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Jianghan Administrative Office, and the Jianghan Military District decided to establish the Jianghan Public School. Zheng Shaowen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Jianghan Military District and Director of the Jianghan Administrative Office, served as the school’s principal, with Hua Dakui and Zhang Fu as vice principals. The main learning methods for students at the Jianghan Public School included attending lectures, studying documents, and engaging in group discussions, supplemented by social investigations and labor training. Classes were held under the shade of village trees, on hillsides, or by rice fields—often with just a square table and a bench serving as the podium, while students sat on the ground with their knees serving as desks. Leading figures such as Han Dongshan, Liu Xiyao, and Deng Zihui frequently visited the school to deliver speeches, while cultural personalities like He Jiahuai, Zheng En, and Lin Lu also came to give lectures.

From its establishment in the spring of 1948 to its closure in the summer of 1949, the Jianghan Public School operated for four terms and trained nearly a thousand military and political cadres.

In February 1999, the Site of the Former Jianghan Public School was designated as a Hubei Provincial Patriotic Education Base by the People's Government of Hubei Province.
