The Mengjiagang Plantation Forest scenic area is over 20 kilometers from the county town, covering a forested area of more than 200,000 mu, and is one of the country’s renowned forest regions. A vast expanse of 150,000 mu of plantation forest forms a sea of green. The trees are lined up in neat rows, with various species. In spring, flowers bloom in a riot of colors; in summer, the forest is lush and green; in autumn, the foliage turns into a palette of colors; in winter, it becomes a snow-covered plain — a scene of breathtaking beauty. Especially when exploring within the forest, it feels like walking into a green palace. Climbing to the watchtower on Xiaonanshan, you can overlook the vast forest, and the roaring sound of the pine waves is like a majestic symphony. Standing here, all fatigue and worries instantly vanish, offering a refreshing and health-invigorating experience. Mengjiagang Plantation Forest is known as the “Forest Park.”

The Mengjiagang Plantation Forest was established in 1956 and is located in Mengjia, northern Huanan County, belonging to the western foothills of the Wandashan Mountain Range. The northeastern part of the scenic area is higher in elevation, with the highest point at 575 meters and the lowest at 168 meters above sea level. Within the scenic area, the Nanliuhe and Bahuli rivers converge into the Xiangyangshan Reservoir in Huinan County. The annual average temperature is 2.7°C. The total area of the scenic zone is 244,000 mu, including 200,000 mu of forested land — comprising 150,000 mu of plantation forest and 50,000 mu of natural forest. The main tree species are larch, Korean pine, red-crowned spruce, and Scots pine. The total timber volume is 1.3 million cubic meters, with a forest coverage rate of 81.7%, making it the second-largest plantation forest base in the country. The trees in the plantation forest are neatly arranged, bursting with flowers in spring, lush and green in summer, vibrantly colored in autumn, and blanketed in white snow in winter.
