Shending Peak is located among the mountains of the Wandashan Mountain Range in the northeast of Hulin City, and is the highest peak of the Wandashan range, standing at an elevation of 831 meters. The area boasts wonderfully shaped peaks and a stunningly diverse landscape that is picturesque in every season. In spring, the mountains turn green and flowers bloom in colorful competition; in summer, birds sing and fragrant blossoms fill the air while the hillsides remain lush and green; in autumn, the mountains are covered with red foliage and layered forests are dyed in brilliant hues; in winter, the peaks are blanketed in white snow, with the mountains appearing as if dancing with silver snakes.

Sunrise, pine waves, and sea of clouds are the “three wonders” of Shending Peak’s scenery. The peak features steep and rugged terrain. From its summit, one can gaze out at layer upon layer of mountains stretching all the way to the horizon — it is one of the first places in China to see the sunrise. Every year on the summer solstice at 2:30 AM marks the earliest sunrise of the year. As the sun rises, the sky along the horizon instantly transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors, vibrant and magnificent. The sun emerges like a giant wheel, slowly ascending, and in an instant, the land is bathed in radiant light, and all things awaken — a truly spectacular and awe-inspiring sight.

The summit is vast, seemingly stretching beyond the sky. When the breeze blows, the rustling of pine waves rises and falls, rolling into the emerald mountains and valleys. The forest echoes with the roars of tigers and the calls of deer, while eagles and falcons circle in the blue sky, creating a naturally beautiful and captivating scene that delights the eye.

The sea of clouds is one of the great wonders of Shending Peak. After the rain clears, visitors to the summit often witness the ever-changing sea of clouds. The peculiar peaks and ancient pines, when enveloped by the sea of clouds, become even more enchanting, full of poetic charm. At times, the mountain ridges emerge; at other times, they are submerged in the cloud sea. Sometimes, soft cloud wisps drift gently, tender and affectionate; sometimes, the misty waves are vast, majestic and overwhelming. At times, the clouds seem beneath your feet; at others, they brush past your cheeks. The sea of clouds adds a magical touch to Shending Peak, making it a veritable fairyland on earth. Shending Peak is not only a scenic destination but also a natural paradise for flora and fauna, rich in resources. Visitors can take a vehicle up the winding mountain road directly to the summit, making it the perfect choice for those looking to enjoy and reconnect with nature.
