Dongning Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism attraction.

Dongning Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located on the hilltop of Xishan in Xishan Community, Dongning Town, Dongning County, Mudanjiang City. Its GPS coordinates are 131°06'17.8" east longitude, 44°03'32.3" north latitude, at an elevation of 173 meters. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Dongning County Government established the site to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the revolution during the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, and the Korean War. The Dongning Revolutionary Martyrs Monument was first built on October 1, 1959, covering an area of 107,000 square meters. The building has a construction area of 168 square meters, and behind the monument lie five martyrs’ tombs. However, after more than 40 years of weathering, the monument had severely deteriorated. In 2003, the Dongning County Party Committee and County Government raised over 300,000 yuan to rebuild the Dongning Town Revolutionary Martyrs Monument. The rebuilt monument stands 14.1 meters tall. On the front (east side) of the monument are inscribed nine shining golden characters: 革命烈士纪念碑 (“Revolutionary Martyrs Monument”); on the south side: “The revolutionary martyrs gave their precious lives to win national liberation and democratic freedom for the Chinese people. Their great achievements are recorded in the glorious annals of history and will be remembered forever. Our task is to work with full energy, strive to be in the vanguard, and build a strong socialist country in a fast, good, and economical way. In the future, we will march forward bravely to build the most beautiful, happy, and prosperous communist society for mankind!” Dated May 15, 1959. On the west side: “During the great struggles of the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, the Korean War, and the defense of socialist construction—especially during the long 14 years of fighting against the Japanese invaders—countless outstanding sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, under the brilliant banner of the great Communist Party of China and Comrade Mao Zedong, fought heroically and made continuous sacrifices for the independence and liberation of the motherland and the happiness of future generations. Many revolutionary martyrs gave their precious lives in the struggle and achieved immortal merits. The noble qualities and heroic deeds of the revolutionary martyrs will be forever recorded in history and remembered through the ages. The people of the entire county will always remember them and take them as role models, making the greatest contributions to the socialist and communist causes of our great motherland. Glorious revolutionary martyrs, may you live forever!” Inscribed by the CPC Dongning County Committee and the Dongning County People’s Committee, established on October 1, 1959. On the north side: “Eternal glory to the martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives in the revolutionary war!” — Li Yanlu, September 18, 1959. In 2003, the county government invested 300,000 yuan to renovate the Xishan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, and also constructed a 1,000-square-meter cement plaza, a 2,400-square-meter cement pathway up the mountain, and a 1,200-square-meter cement fitness plaza. The newly rebuilt cemetery not only serves as a patriotic education base to honor the martyrs and inspire future generations, but also as a great place for local residents to exercise and for foreign tourists to visit.

In 2005, the Dongning Town Xishan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit of Dongning County and also established as a patriotic education base of the county.
