The Soviet Red Army Martyrs' Monument in Dongning is a classic red tourism attraction.

The original Soviet Red Army Martyrs' Monument in Dongning was located in the center of the roundabout in Dongning Town, Dongning County, Mudanjiang City. The original site's GPS coordinates were latitude 44°03′29.5", longitude 131°07′09.7", at an altitude of 115 meters. In February 1945, the leaders of the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union held a conference in Yalta, where the Soviet Union promised to launch an attack on Japan within 2–3 months after Germany’s surrender. In the early hours of August 9, 1945, the Soviet army entered the northeast and launched an assault on Dongning, delivering a devastating blow to the Japanese forces. To commemorate the Soviet Red Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Dongning, in November 1945, the Soviet army built a "Soviet Red Army Martyrs' Monument" in the central-southern part of Dongning Town. The monument base was hexagonal, with steps on the eastern side, constructed of stone and cement. It stood 1.1 meters high and covered an area of 11 square meters.

The inscription area of the monument was 1 meter high and 0.90 meters wide. The entire monument was 8 meters tall, with a width of 0.70 meters at the top and 0.80 meters at the bottom. The building area was 81 square meters, and the site covered 1,735 square meters. The front of the tower bore an inscription in Russian that read: "Eternal glory to the heroes who fell for the honor and victory of our homeland!" — August 9–20, 1945. In 2000, Dongning County established the Dongning Fortress. In October of that year, according to the county’s overall planning requirements, the county government decided to relocate the Soviet Red Army Martyrs' Monument to the west side of the Dongning Fortress. The relocated monument retained its original appearance.
