Yujia Reservoir

Yujia Reservoir is situated in the northeastern part of Yushu City, approximately 40 kilometers from Yushu Town. Named after its location within Yujia Township, it is one of the city’s five medium-sized reservoirs. The main structure lies on the middle reaches of the Sidao River, covering a catchment area of 86.3 square kilometers. It functions as a multi-year regulated reservoir, with an average annual runoff depth of 160 mm, an average annual runoff volume of 13.8 million cubic meters, and an average annual precipitation of 600 mm. The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 35.4 million cubic meters, and its effective storage capacity is 20.03 million cubic meters.

The dam is a homogeneous earth-fill dam with block stone revetment. It is 1,050 meters long and has a maximum height of 10 meters. There are two spillway tunnels, each with two 2-meter-wide bays, discharging a maximum flood flow of 60 cubic meters per second. An emergency spillway is constructed at the right end of the dam.
