From 1951 to 1977, human bones and paleontological fossils were discovered here multiple times. According to C14 dating: they date back 70,000 to 40,000 years, corresponding to the Upper Cave Culture period. The Zhoujiayoufang Site is located about 18 kilometers southwest of Yushu County, within the territory of Dayu Township. The site stretches approximately 12 kilometers from east to west and 7 kilometers from north to south. The platform has an elevation of 200–220 meters, standing 50–70 meters above the Songhua River surface. It is dissected by tributaries of the Songhua River, forming a ridged terrain. The terraces rise 8–12 meters above the riverbed, and this layer contains artifacts of ancient human culture as well as fossils of animals such as the woolly mammoth and woolly rhinoceros. These ancient creatures are collectively referred to as the "Yushu Fauna."
