Yushu City Museum

Yushu City Museum was established in 1973 as the Yushu County Exhibition Hall. In 1981, with the approval of the Jilin Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, the Yushu County Government renamed the Yushu County Exhibition Hall to the Yushu County Museum. In 1990, when Yushu County was upgraded to a city, the Yushu County Museum was renamed Yushu City Museum. In September 2010, the Jilin Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau approved the addition of the "Jilin Agricultural Museum" plaque under the original Yushu City Museum, adopting a management model of one staff structure with two plaques.

General Information: Yushu City Museum is affiliated with the Yushu City Culture, Radio, Television, News and Publishing Bureau. It is a comprehensive museum integrating cultural relic collection, scientific research, exhibition display, revolutionary tradition education, and the protection of cultural relics across the city. The museum currently has 38 staff members, including 8 with intermediate titles and 17 with junior titles. It houses departments for exhibitions, collections, public engagement, cultural relic preservation, security, and an administrative office. The museum holds literature archives and a collection of artifacts including jade, stone tools, bronzes, ceramics, ironware, currency, calligraphy and paintings, revolutionary relics, modern and contemporary artifacts, as well as paleontological fossil specimens. According to the results of the first survey of movable cultural relics, Yushu City Museum has a collection of 5,003 items (sets), including 1 national first-grade relic, 8 second-grade relics, and 127 third-grade relics.

Building Information: The museum building is a three-story frame structure with a total area of 2,000 square meters, including 1,000 square meters of exhibition space and 150 square meters of storage for cultural relics.

Visiting Guide: Yushu City Museum currently features two permanent exhibitions: “Treasured Highlights – Finest Collections of Yushu City Museum” and “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Yushu City.” Additionally, the museum occasionally hosts temporary thematic exhibitions based on current needs and in coordination with various initiatives.
