The city wall of Héqì Ancient City is built with rammed earth. Oriented at 25 degrees, the wall has a perimeter of 1,714 meters, with the east and west walls each 407 meters long and 2 meters high, and the north and south walls each 450 meters long. The southern wall is 2 meters high, while the northern wall is 3 meters high. The top of the wall is 2 meters wide, with a base width of 15–20 meters. Five meters outside the city wall, there is a 15-meter-wide recessed area around the entire perimeter, representing the remains of the ancient moat. Each of the four corners of the wall has a watchtower, each 10 meters in both length and width, slightly taller than the wall. The southeast and southwest watchtowers have been damaged. The northeast watchtower remains well-preserved. On the northern wall, three battlements of unequal distance, each about 2 meters long and 10 meters wide, and slightly higher than the wall, are distributed. On the southern wall, 200 meters from the southeast watchtower, there is a gate that is 40 meters wide. Sixteen meters in front of the gate, there is a curved rampart connecting to the wall, forming a barbican.
