During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Hui people who practiced Islam gradually migrated from inland areas to settle in Changchun. In the fourth year of Emperor Guangxu’s reign (1824), the Hui community donated funds to build the mosque. It was initially located on East Sandao Street within the city. As the city expanded and the population increased, the original mosque became too small. In the first year of the Tongzhi era (1862), it was relocated to its current site and rebuilt. After two large-scale expansions between 1864 and 1919, the scale and facilities of the mosque were continuously improved. It now covers an area of 5,000 square meters, with main structures including the prayer hall, the moon-sighting tower, the main hall, the imam's office, the ablution room, and the women's mosque.
