The Yellow River Reservoir Scenic Area is located in the upper reaches of the Yinma River, spanning the towns of Yantongshan and Mingcheng. It is a comprehensive project primarily for irrigation, with additional functions such as power generation and diversified operations, and is the largest medium-sized reservoir in Panshi City. Constructed in 1958 by damming the waters of the Little Yellow River, it is up to 1.5 kilometers wide and approximately 5.5 kilometers long, with a catchment area of 784 square kilometers, a dam height of 13 meters, a crest length of 520 meters, and a total storage capacity of 35 million cubic meters. The Yellow River Reservoir Scenic Area is a well-known leisure fishing and sightseeing destination across the province. The reservoir water is clear and free from industrial pollution, with vast waters that have initially formed a beautiful landscape integrating engineering features, water scenery, cultural elements, and mountain-forest natural views. The reservoir combines mountains, water, and peninsulas, featuring verdant hills, pristine air, and an unusually serpentine S-shaped water surface. The island is rich in wildlife, with flocks of wild ducks and grey cranes. The reservoir boasts abundant aquatic resources, including a wide variety of fish species, as well as river crabs, clams, and snails.　

The scenic area offers a waterfront promenade (fishing pier) that winds along the meandering shoreline, nestled against the mountains and water. Other attractions include a dam with riprap protection, a tide-viewing pavilion, a European-style power station, a grand and imposing water gate tower, leisure woodlands, forest pavilions, fountains, lotus ponds, Russian-style villa campsites, and windmill rockeries. The service center building covers a floor area of 1,500 square meters and can accommodate 150 guests for lodging and 400 for dining simultaneously. The reservoir is equipped with one electric boat and two speedboats, and its unique fish feasts attract a large number of visitors from both within and outside the province, receiving over 100,000 tourists annually.

The Yellow River Reservoir Scenic Area was rated as a 2A-level tourist attraction by the Jilin Provincial Tourism Bureau in 2002. In 2003, it was included in the tourism route by the Jilin Provincial Tourism Bureau, designated as part of the Guanma Lotus Mountain National Forest Park by the National Forestry Administration, and recognized as a national water conservancy scenic area by the Ministry of Water Resources.
