Red Stone Rock Mountain

Red Stone Rock Mountain is situated at the border between Mingcheng and Chaoyangshan towns in Panshi City, with its highest peak at an altitude of 878.7 meters. In November 1932, Yang Jingyu came to Panshi and, as per a directive from the Provincial Committee, restructured the Panshi Workers' and Peasants' Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army into the 32nd Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army South Manchuria Guerrilla Unit. On Red Stone Rock Mountain and the adjacent West Glass River Valley—an area spanning hundreds of square kilometers—he established a base known as the Red Stone Rock Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Base. This was the first anti-Japanese guerrilla base created by the Chinese Communist Party in Northeast China. In December 1982, the Site of the Red Stone Rock Anti-Japanese Base was listed as a Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. The Panshi County Government erected memorial steles at significant sites and preserved relics used by the Red Army guerrillas—such as firearms, artillery, ammunition, leather boxes, and tweezers—unearthed at the site, as revolutionary historical artifacts in the Jilin Provincial Revolutionary Museum. Today, on Red Stone Rock Mountain, the Bajia Valley contains the remnants of a Red Army hospital, uniform factory, weapons repair workshop, and hidden camp. In the Xiglass River Valley’s Shengcai Valley, there are ruins of a Red Army office, weapons repair facility, charcoal kiln, and concealed camp.

On October 7, 2019, the Site of the Red Stone Rock Anti-Japanese Base was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
