The Xiduanliangshan Site is located on an east-west oriented mountain range to the northeast of the Yimianshan Township government seat. It is backed by rolling hills; to the south lies the main channel of the eastward-flowing Mei River. With steep southern slopes and a flat, open mountaintop, it is truly a scenic spot nestled between mountains and water. Stone artifacts collected from the site include scraped tools made by chipping, in long strip and slightly semicircular shapes, as well as leaf-shaped stone arrowheads ground from stone. Pottery fragments are all hand-made with fine sand tempering, mostly in earth-yellow, reddish-brown, and brown colors. The pottery walls are relatively thin and the texture is loose. Many of the fragments feature decorative patterns. The decoration techniques are divided into two types: incised carving and pressing. The decorative motifs include typical “Z”-shaped patterns, “person”-shaped patterns, parallel lines, grids, wavy lines, and other varied designs, showing many commonalities with Neolithic cultural remains in the Liao River Basin, Songhua River Basin, and Hun River Basin. Based on similar sites in neighboring areas, its age is estimated to be around 5,000 to 3,000 years ago.
