The Zhengjiawazi Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Shenyang City. It is located in Yong’anqiao, Yangshi Township, Yuhong District, Shenyang

Zhengjiawazi Village. This is a cultural site from the Bronze Age, distributed along an earthen ridge approximately one kilometer long from north to south. Discovered in 1958, by 1986, a total of 41 tombs from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods had been excavated and cleared, yielding complete human skeletons, sets of military and horse equipment, as well as nearly 8,000 items in 42 categories including bronze, pottery, stone, and bone artifacts.

Among the unearthed relics, there is a large number of bronze weapons, among which bronze short swords are typical artifacts, indicating that hunting and warfare held significant importance in society at the time. Judging from the scale of the tombs, the larger ones featured multiple coffins, lavish burials, numerous bronze items, and high-quality bronze swords. The deceased were adorned with bronze ornaments all over their bodies, even their boots were decorated with numerous bronze studs. Other finds included pottery jars, horse tack, turquoise beads, and lapis lazuli necklaces. In contrast, smaller tombs contained only a single pottery jar, and any short swords found were usually of very poor quality. This indicates that social stratification and wealth disparity were already quite pronounced at the time. Observations of the many stone tools, net sinkers, spinning whorls, and other artifacts unearthed suggest that the early inhabitants not only engaged in farming and animal husbandry, but also developed handicraft industries such as bronze casting, pottery making, bone tool processing, and weaving. The site showcases the features of Shenyang’s Bronze Age culture and provides extremely important physical material for the study of China’s northern Bronze Age culture. A Bronze Short Sword Tomb Exhibition Hall has now been established on the site.
