The Shenyang Christian Dongguan Church covers an area of 4,301 square meters, with a building area of 2,830 square meters and a total area of 6,861 square meters. The church was once surrounded by low-rise houses, with a pathway in front less than two meters wide, making it muddy and difficult to pass through during rainy or snowy weather. In 2007, as part of a unified urban planning effort by the Shenyang Municipal Government, illegal constructions around the church were demolished, roads were widened, and the “Dongguan Church Green Space” was built. This has allowed the church to showcase its charm, and it has been designated by the Shenyang Cultural Relics Bureau as an immovable cultural relic of Shenyang. The church is one of the most influential churches in Northeast China.

This church was founded in October 1889 by the Scotsman John Ross and has a history of over 100 years. In its early days, the Korean church translated the Bible here. The church has withstood the trials of war and suffered damage during the Cultural Revolution. What you see today is the church rebuilt in 1907 (after being destroyed in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900) and expanded twice in the 1990s (an expansion took place in 1992, and an annex was added in 1998). In 2007, the church held a church anniversary celebration.

The church holds Bible study classes, volunteer training sessions, and prayer meetings from Monday to Friday.
