Kaohsiung’s version of the "Forest of Tranquility" — a hidden gem you can reach via metro

If you want to enjoy the dreamy beauty of the Forest of Tranquility, you don’t have to travel all the way up to the mountains in Nantou. In Kaohsiung, there’s a local secret spot located near the Dadong Art Center at Dadong Wetlands Park. After greening and renovation by the Kaohsiung City Government, it has become a lush urban oasis. The dense trees and lake water reflect each other, creating beautiful scenery that resembles a mini version of the Forest of Tranquility.

Covering an area of about 9 hectares, Dadong Wetlands Park can be reached by simply taking the Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line to Dadong Station. The park features a large pond with small fish swimming freely, surrounded by plenty of trees and seasonal flowers and plants that change throughout the year. It has become a popular spot for locals to relax and have fun, and many couples even come here to take wedding photos.

The nearby Dadong Art Center is also one of Kaohsiung’s popular attractions. The special membrane roof above the surrounding plaza space looks like a cluster of hot air balloons, and it presents colorful light effects at night. During holidays, it attracts many locals and tourists to take photos here.
