Shenyang Wanquan Park

Wanquan Park is located on Wanquan Street in Dadong District, Shenyang, covering an area of 620,000 square meters. It was built in 1906 by a local gentry surnamed Shen. After the liberation of Shenyang, the park’s development accelerated rapidly. In 1973, it was transformed into Shenyang Zoo, and rare and large animals from Zhongshan and Laodong parks were relocated here.

The park houses modern and artistically designed facilities such as the Panda House, Giraffe House, Waterfowl Lake, Lion and Tiger Mountain, and Monkey Hill. It exhibits over 130 species of animals, including first-class nationally protected and rare foreign species, such as the Siberian tiger, panda, cougar, Chilean turkey, leopard, seal, red-crowned crane, golden monkey, musk deer, and the mantled guenon gifted by Japan. The park is lush with lawns and flower stands, adorned with potted plants along the pathways. Animal enclosures are shaded by trees, and visitors can enjoy boat rides. The elegant and pleasant animal displays attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, peaking at over 1.62 million visitors in a single year. After the zoo was relocated in 2001, the site was redesigned as a public park and renamed Wanquan Park.
