Shenyang University Natural History Museum

The Shenyang University Natural History Museum serves as a base for science education.

The Shenyang University Natural History Museum encompasses decades of teaching and research specimen collections from three colleges: the Teachers College, Xinmin Teachers College, and the College of Life Science and Engineering. It is a specialized museum integrating functions such as science popularization, education, research, and specimen preservation. The natural history museum was built in 2015 and officially opened to the public on June 1, 2016. In 2017, it was approved as a Shenyang Science Popularization Base by the Shenyang Science and Technology Bureau and the Shenyang Association for Science and Technology.

Themed “Harmonious Coexistence Between Humans and Nature,” the Shenyang University Natural History Museum features six exhibition areas: Dinosaurs, Mammals, Birds, Insects, Shellfish, and the Corridor of Life. It displays over 4,000 animal specimens from across China and around the world, including 1,600 shellfish, 1,000 insects, 630 birds, and 110 mammals. Visitors can experience hands-on specimen observation and creation in the training room, appreciate the wonders of nature, or watch sci-fi films in the 3D theater to directly experience the perfect blend of art and science.

While meeting the teaching and research needs of the university, the Shenyang University Natural History Museum primarily targets children, teenagers, student groups, and family visitors, and is open to the public as a comprehensive service platform for science education, nature conservation awareness, and the promotion of ecological civilization.
