Faku Wulong Mountain
Faku Wulong Mountain is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
The Wulong Mountain Scenic Area is situated in Dingjiafang Town, 30 kilometers west of Faku County and 70 kilometers from Shenyang. Spanning 1,548 hectares, it is a circular mountain range made up of five ridges, including Wulong Mountain, Chaoyangdong Mountain, and Longhuai Mountain. It is one of the well-known mountains in the Shenyang region. In 2000, it was established as a nature reserve in Shenyang, upgraded to a national AA-level scenic spot in 2002, and named a National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site by the China National Tourism Administration in 2005.
Blessed with extraordinary natural landscapes, infused with the fragrance of the countryside, and blending Buddhist and Taoist elements, Wulong Mountain is a scenic destination that combines sightseeing, rural leisure, and spiritual pursuits. It also serves as an ideal base for rural social practice for primary, secondary, and university students, as well as a window to understanding agriculture, rural life, and farmers. An old folk song about Wulong Mountain says, "From afar, Wulong Mountain stands with peaks embracing and valleys connecting—only dragons seem to dance, their edges unseen. Step into the mountain, and though trees dense and lush block the sky, you hear voices but can't tell where they come from." Wulong Mountain is famed for landmarks such as Drum Mountain, Wind-Sheltering Terrace, Dragon Spring, Divine Pine, Exotic Maple Trees, Pagoda Forest, Beamless Temple, and Pine on the Eaves. It boasts 10,000 acres of natural secondary forest, 300 acres of orchards, nearly a thousand varieties of flowers and plants, and dozens of medicinal herbs. Historical sites include the command post of Lin Biao during the Shuǐshuǐhé Campaign—the first spring of the Northeast Liberation—and the ruins of the capital of the Fūrén and Hu people dating back 3,400 years. There are also Buddhist sacred sites such as Seven Pagodas Forest, Biyun Palace, and Guanghui Temple, as well as a grapevine corridor and a mountain pepper sightseeing area exuding rich local flavor. Local agricultural products and souvenirs include Wulong Mountain-branded green grapes, free-range chicken eggs, minor cereals, Aisin-Gioro wine, root carvings, and paper cuttings.
The Wulong Mountain Scenic Area is divided into four major zones: Chaoyangdong Scenic Zone, Drum Mountain Scenic Zone, Fūrén Capital Ruins, and the Ten-Thousand-Acre Grapevine Corridor Sightseeing Area. It offers a unique journey through wonder, countryside, culture, and revolutionary history in northern Shenyang, and serves as a prime agricultural tourism demonstration site themed around agriculture, rural life, and farmers. Major attractions include ancient apricot woods over 300 years old, Guizhen Forest covered by pristine secondary forests, a Yuan Dynasty Taoist temple over 600 years old, Pine on the Eaves, Seven Pagodas Forest, Wulong Divine Spring, Snake Immortal Cave, Heavenly Drum Mountain, Wind-Sheltering Terrace, Fūrén Capital Ruins, Zodiac Stone Carving Garden, Inverted Guanyin Temple, Guanghui Temple, Forest Bathing Area, Eagle and Magpie Slope, Lin Biao’s Command Post, and the Ten-Thousand-Acre Grapevine Corridor.
