Xiushui Lake

Xiushui Lake, originally named Huanzidong Reservoir, was built in 1958. It lies between Xiushuihezi Town and Yemetai Town in Faku County, Shenyang City, covering a water surface area of 1,532 hectares, making it the largest reservoir in Shenyang. Located 35 kilometers west of Faku City and 60 kilometers from Shenyang, it is a plains-type lake with a scenic area of 3,231 hectares. It serves as a habitat for endangered migratory birds such as the oriental white stork, red-crowned crane, and whooper swan. According to the international wetland conservation criteria, Xiushui Lake meets the standards of an internationally significant wetland and is a protected area for rare wildlife and plants in Liaoning Province.

The area features flat terrain and expansive waters, with abundant aquatic plants, plankton, fish, and especially migratory birds in and around the lake body. Together with the Liaohe River wetlands, it forms a major resting area for migratory birds. The surrounding forests and vegetation are rich, with plant species including Chinese pine, Lespedeza bicolor, reeds, and cattails. Birds frolic here amidst undulating reed beds that stretch as far as the eye can see, where water and sky blend seamlessly. Endangered bird species such as oriental white storks, red-crowned cranes, Siberian cranes, and whooper swans can be spotted, along with countless falcated ducks, silver gulls, scoters, common pochards, and wild geese. To the east of Xiushui Lake stands the solemn Xiushuihe Battle Memorial Hall, which marks the first spring of the Northeast Liberation. This battle marked the prelude to the Liberation War. The memorial is located within the Xiushuihe Annihilation Battle Cemetery and houses a large collection of photos and artifacts from the democratic allied forces who fought in the battle. It is a key site for patriotic education and red tourism. Major tourist attractions include the Xiushui Lake Wetland Sightseeing Area and the Xiushuihe Battle Memorial Hall Scenic Zone.

Yemetai Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Faku County. In 1961, the Yemetai Commune was established; in 1984, it was restructured as a township; and in 1985, it was upgraded to a town. It is located in the western part of the county, 45 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 175 square kilometers, it has a population of 22,000. The Beijing–Shenyang North Highway passes through the area. It administers 16 village committees: Liujia, Taipingzhuang, Yánhuangdi, Miaotaishan, Dangshishan, Bùtuózi, Mǔtuózi, Sijiaoshan, Xiaohuangdi, Ertaizi, Toutaizi, Yemetai, Zhentaojie, Taipingshan, Siguanbao, and Shizhuangzi.
