Shenyang Manchu Folk Village

Shenyang Manchu Folk Village is a new tourist attraction that combines Manchu ethnic customs, the pastoral scenery of northern rural areas, and sports and fitness activities. It is home to the country's first Manchu Folk Museum, which showcases the history, production, daily life, and development of folk art of the Manchu people before the Qing Dynasty entered the Shanhai Pass. The village also includes Qing-style brick and tile buildings, mud-brick and thatched cottages representing traditional Manchu homes, as well as stone archways, totem poles, a bronze statue of Nurhaci, and other elements that fully reflect Manchu cultural characteristics.

With its strong local flavor, Shenyang Manchu Folk Village has attracted a large number of domestic and international tourists.

Nestled in a tree-covered valley, Shenyang Manchu Folk Village features small streams flowing in front of its mud-brick and thatched cottages. Within wooden-fenced courtyards, visitors can see antique spinning wheels, looms, millstones, stone grinders, as well as well pulleys and wells. Chickens, ducks, geese, and dogs roam the yards, creating a naturally harmonious scene.

How delightful it would be to enjoy a meal of potatoes stir-fried with eggplant and sorghum rice porridge, engage in some farm work, observe how peanuts, cotton, and millet grow, and then take a horseback ride around the area. The Manchu Folk Museum displays a large collection of Manchu production tools, daily utensils, and folk artworks.

Whenever visitors arrive, young Manchu men and women dress in traditional ethnic costumes, perform lively Manchu dances, sing melodious Manchu songs, and reenact vibrant Manchu wedding ceremonies. In the Manchu cottages, you can also taste authentic Manchu tea snacks—hú mǐ chá (sticky rice tea), sā qí mǎ (a type of pastry), and “donkey rolling” bean flour rolls.
