Dandong Haihua Curio Museum

The Haihua Curio Museum is located on the right side of the main gate of Dandong’s picturesque Jinshan Mountain. It is the first exhibition hall in China to be funded and built by an enterprise, and is affiliated with the Dandong Charity Association. Covering nearly 1,000 square meters in floor space, the museum showcases the wonders of nature and the ingenuity of human craftsmanship through rare natural treasures and exquisitely made artworks. The museum is divided into four exhibition halls:

First Exhibition Hall: The Curious Stones Hall. It displays over 500 unique and unusual stones, categorized into five types: ornamental stones, carved stones, gemstones, fossils, and celebrity-signed stones. A one-and-a-half-ton yellow jade stone unearthed in Shizijie Town, Donggang City, which strikingly resembles a turtle, will transport visitors from both China and abroad into a fantastical legendary world.

Second Exhibition Hall: The Marine Shellfish Hall. Over 800 colorful and bizarre shells dazzle the eye. The most extraordinary item is a freshwater mussel shell featuring images of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) and Shouxing (the God of Longevity). It was fished out of the Taizi River by a worker from Benxi City. On the inner left panel of the mussel shell is the image of Shouxing, symbolizing longevity — he holds a dragon-headed cane in his left hand and supports a peach in his right hand at chest level. With a protruding forehead, long flowing beard, kind and amiable expression, the figure is vividly lifelike. On the right panel sits Guanyin Bodhisattva, who compassionately saves all beings, cross-legged on a lotus throne while holding a pure water vase. The Buddhist beads around her chest are clearly visible and countable, rendered in exquisite detail.

Third Exhibition Hall: The Curiosities and Unique Skills Hall. This hall brings together a wide array of fascinating, mysterious, and legendary stories about remarkable people from around the world, as well as the extraordinary artistic skills of master craftsmen.

Fourth Exhibition Hall: The Science Education Specimen Exhibition. It displays over 500 unique insects, allowing visitors to gain knowledge and broaden their horizons while admiring the exhibits, inspiring a greater love for life and nature.

Since its opening, the Haihua Curio Museum has welcomed tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors. Countries such as Hong Kong, Australia, South Korea, and Japan have organized multiple tour groups to visit the museum, earning widespread praise from all sectors of society. The museum has also been featured in special reports on CCTV programs such as “Jiuzhou Shen Yun” (The Charm of China) and “Zhengda Variety Show.” Leaders of the Party and the state have visited the museum and spoken highly of it. Many celebrities have left inscriptions here after their visits.

Features: The museum houses the “Three Treasures” along with several thousand rare treasures and artworks. It is divided into four exhibition halls, each with its own captivating theme.

Transportation: The museum is not far from Dandong Railway Station and the passenger transport center, and can be reached on foot in less than ten minutes.
