Wujintang Scenic Area

Wujintang Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Wujintang Reservoir is located in Nanpiao District, Huludao City, approximately 35 kilometers northeast of Jinzhou, at the border between Nuandangtang Town and Huangtugan Township. The reservoir is named for the abundant underground coal reserves in the area and its proximity to the east of Wujintang Village.

The reservoir was built in July 1971, situated in a mountain valley, and created by impounding water from the middle section of the Nü’er River. The dam is 288 meters long, 99 meters high, 5 meters wide at the top, and 183.7 meters wide at the base, with a wave wall topping out at 100 meters and an actual dam height of 33 meters. It has a catchment area of 940 square kilometers and a water surface area of 10 square kilometers. On the north side, there is a spillway and water intake tunnel constructed with block stones and cement grouting, along with a small hydropower station.

Nanpiao Special Wild Boar Farm

The area around the reservoir features rolling mountains, making it a popular tourist destination. Traveling by boat westward for about 3.5 kilometers will take you to a cave. Inside, colorful stalactites create a stunning sight, and the clear waters of a pool are visible to the bottom. The main hall inside the cave is 150 meters long and 40 meters wide, capable of accommodating thousands of people. Boating on the water and fishing near the rocks offer visitors a relaxing experience. Among the reservoir's areas, one spot is particularly ideal for fishing. Surrounded by water on all sides and connected to the three-waterside Diantai Mountain via an arched bridge, the island is about 400 meters long and 70 meters wide, offering a tranquil atmosphere. To the west of the island lies Bird Island, which is 3.5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide, surrounded by water on three sides and connected to the land on one. Resembling a club stretching into the reservoir, it hosts thousands of migratory birds that gather, roost, and breed here during spring, summer, and autumn, earning it the reputation of "Little Dongting Lake Beyond the Great Wall."

Nuandangtang Town: Nuandangtang Town is located in the southwestern part of Nanpiao District, approximately 21 kilometers from the district government seat. It borders Wujintang Reservoir to the north, Huangtugan Township and Zhangxianggong Township of Lianshan District to the east, Gangyaoling Town to the west, and Gangtun and Shenshengmiao Towns of Lianshan District to the south. In the northern part of Nuandangtang Town, there is a pond where springs continuously gush from underground, flowing year-round. The spring water remains warm in winter and cool in summer, never freezing even in severe cold — hence the name “Nuandangtang” (Warm Pond).
