Wujintang Reservoir

Wujintang Reservoir is located near Wujintang Village, about 35 kilometers northwest of Huludao City in Liaoning Province, and is the seventh-largest water conservancy project in the province. The name "Wujintang" comes from the underground coal deposits in the area. The reservoir lies in a broad valley in the mountainous region and was formed by damming the middle reaches of the Nv'er River, covering a water surface area of 12 square kilometers. Its water storage capacity exceeds one hundred million cubic meters, serving as the main water source for Huludao City and Nanpiao District. It plays a crucial role in flood control and drought relief for the lower reaches of the Nv'er River, especially for the urban areas of Jinzhou and Huludao.

The dam of Wujintang Reservoir is 288 meters long, 99 meters high, with a base width of 183.7 meters and a top width of 50 meters. The top of the wave wall reaches 100 meters in height. The reservoir freezes over in winter and thaws around March or April.

Within the reservoir area— is the best spot for fishing. Surrounded by water on all sides, it is connected to the three-sided Diantai Mountain by an arched bridge. The island is about 400 meters long and 70 meters wide, offering a very tranquil environment. To the west of the island lies Bird Island, which stretches 3.5 kilometers in length and 1 kilometer in width. It is surrounded by water on three sides and connected to the mainland on one side, resembling a club sticking out into the reservoir. Every spring, summer, and autumn, thousands of migratory birds gather here to nest and breed.
