Guanmen Mountain National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Guanmen Mountain National Forest Park is located seventy kilometers southeast of Benxi City. The forest park spans 3,517 hectares with a forest coverage rate of 95%. The park features well-preserved vegetation, numerous ancient and notable trees, and beautiful scenery. It is a forest tourism destination that combines travel, sightseeing, summer retreat, vacationing, and leisure, and is also one of Liaoning’s Top 50 Scenic Spots. In 2001, it was rated as a national AAAA-level scenic tourist area.

The forest park consists of four major scenic areas: Little Huangshan Scenic Area, Jialazi Scenic Area, Longmen Gorge Scenic Area, and Yuetaizi Scenic Area, encompassing 108 attractions. Each area offers unique landscapes — some with striking mountain shapes, others with serene canyons, murmuring streams, or shaded woodlands. The scenery changes at every step, sparking endless imagination. Among the highlights are the “Lion Guarding the Pass” in Jialazi Scenic Area and the “Crystal Curtain Waterfall” in Longmen Gorge Scenic Area. “Lion Guarding the Pass” features towering cliffs resembling a majestic lion with wide, fierce eyes, standing guard at the mountain pass. The “Crystal Curtain Waterfall” cascades in three tiers like a snowy wave, splashing into a pool below with a thunderous roar. Particularly notable is the Benxi city flower, the dove tree (Magnolia sieboldii), which debuted at the Kunming World Expo, along with the crimson forests and golden autumn leaves that paint the mountains in vibrant hues — now iconic sights within Guanmen Mountain National Forest Park.

The park offers distinct scenic beauty in all four seasons. In spring, mountain flowers bloom in a riot of colors; in summer, lush cypresses and pines provide a cool and tranquil retreat; in autumn, the landscape glows with crimson and gold, accompanied by the fragrance of wild fruits; in winter, snow welcomes visitors while icy cliffs tower magnificently.

Guanmen Mountain is known for its five beauties: beautiful mountains, beautiful waters, beautiful trees, beautiful flowers, and beautiful mist. At dawn, dusk, or after rain, clouds and mist rise majestically. The slow-moving fog brushes the green peaks, making the mountains appear veiled, with summits emerging and disappearing like a fairyland or a celestial realm.

Strolling through the scenic area, you can hear the chirping of mountain birds everywhere, spot colorful butterflies dancing about, and occasionally see wild animals such as rabbits and roe deer darting through the woods, creating a lively, untamed atmosphere. The nationally protected Mandarin ducks can be seen playing on the water, and black bears are also frequently spotted.
