Last updated 2026-11-08 — The 2018 Fushun Winter Tourism (Beijing) Promotion Conference, organized by the Fushun Municipal Commission for the Development of the Tourism Industry, was grandly held at 13:30 on February 5, 2018, at the Crowne Plaza Beijing International Yi Yuan Hotel. This marks the third consecutive year that the Fushun Winter Tourism (Beijing) Promotion Conference has been held in Beijing, bringing a strong and refreshing breeze of Manchu culture to the city, attracting a large number of Beijing residents and tourists from home and abroad to visit Fushun for leisure and vacation. As a result, Fushun’s tourist arrivals have been increasing by 20% annually. This year’s event also serves as another major initiative to promote Fushun’s distinctive tourism brand in Beijing, leveraging the capital’s prestige and influence to showcase the travel image of “Fushun – China’s Top Ten Charming Cities,” the Hometown of Qipao and the Capital of Ice and Snow. It aims to attract both domestic and international tourists to transfer via Beijing to Liaoning and then to Fushun, where they can enjoy the beautiful northern scenery, experience the fun of the Ice and Snow Capital, immerse themselves in Manchu folk customs and fishing-hunting culture, relax in hot springs for physical and mental rejuvenation, and savor the festive atmosphere of a traditional Manchu “Chinese New Year.” The goal is to bring more visitors into Liaoning and Fushun, reigniting the excitement in Fushun’s winter tourism market.

The 2018 Fushun Winter Tourism (Beijing) Promotion Conference, organized by the Fushun Municipal Commission for the Development of the Tourism Industry, was grandly held at 13:30 on February 5, 2018, at the Crowne Plaza Beijing International Yi Yuan Hotel. This promotion event takes place shortly after Fushun was honored as one of China’s Top Ten Charming Cities. It is another major effort to promote Fushun’s unique tourism brand in Beijing, using the city’s reputation and influence to enhance the visibility of Fushun – the Hometown of Qipao and the Capital of Ice and Snow. The aim is to attract both Chinese and foreign tourists to transit through Beijing to Liaoning and then Fushun, where they can admire the beautiful northern landscapes, experience the joys of the Ice and Snow Capital, engage with Manchu cultural traditions and hunting heritage, unwind with the healing benefits of hot springs, and celebrate the vibrant flavors of a traditional Manchu New Year. These efforts are designed to drive tourism from Beijing to Liaoning and Fushun, revitalizing the local winter tourism scene through this significant campaign.

Leaders attending this promotion conference included Ma Guohua, member of the Standing Committee of the Fushun Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor; as well as representatives from over 50 well-known domestic travel agencies such as Yingke Travel Group, China Comfort Travel Group, and CYTS, along with more than 60 mainstream domestic media outlets.

The promotion conference kicked off with a stunning Qipao fashion show. Following the screening of a special documentary on Fushun tourism, Liu Jichun, Director of the Fushun Municipal Tourism Commission, gave a presentation on Fushun’s winter tourism offerings. Ma Guohua, member of the Standing Committee of the Fushun Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, delivered an important speech, and leaders from Yingke Travel Group offered congratulations and signed a cooperation agreement with Fushun Intercity Travel Agency.

At the meeting, Director Liu Jichun introduced Fushun’s tourism resources, products, and travel routes. He also presented ten key city brands: Hometown of the Manchu People, Hometown of Qipao, Capital of Ice and Snow, City of Heroes, One Pole and Six Peaks, City of Amber, Birthplace of the Full Manchu-Han Imperial Feast, Transitioning Coal City into a Tourism Destination, Birthplace of the National Anthem Melody, and a All-for-One, All-the-Year-Round Tourism Destination.

Ma Guohua, member of the Standing Committee of the Fushun Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, emphasized that within Fushun’s “One Pole, Five Industries” strategic layout, tourism serves as a key pillar industry driving urban transformation and revitalization. By leveraging Fushun’s resource advantages, the city is committed to building a strong tourism brand. Brands such as Hometown of the Manchu People, Capital of Qipao, City of Lei Feng, and Capital of Ice and Snow have gained national recognition and widespread acclaim from both the public and tourists. In 2017, Fushun participated in CCTV’s “Charming China City” competition, showcasing its unique tourism offerings including the Distant Hetu Ala, Magical Tiannv Mountain, Dreamy Capital of Ice and Snow, Joyful Re’gao Amusement Park, Thrilling Honghe Canyon, and the Eternal Spirit of Lei Feng. Additionally, the city highlighted its ten major city brands: Hometown of the Manchu People, Hometown of Qipao, Capital of Ice and Snow, Snow Town City, One Pole and Six Peaks, City of Amber, Birthplace of the Full Manchu-Han Imperial Feast, Transitioning Coal City into a Tourism Destination, Birthplace of the National Anthem Melody, and a All-for-One, All-the-Year-Round Tourism Destination. These presentations received high praise from the audience and successfully secured Fushun a spot among China’s Top Ten Charming Cities. Particularly over the past two years, Fushun has seized the opportunity of being the central city for Liaoning’s bid to host the 2024 National Winter Games. Guided by President Xi Jinping’s philosophy that “lakes and snow are also invaluable assets,” the city has maximized its advantageous location, excellent ice and snow conditions, solid development foundation, and high-quality tourism resources to vigorously develop ice and snow tourism and sports industries, striving to establish itself as the Capital of Ice and Snow. Through the implementation of the “Hundred-Thousand-Thousand” ice and snow project, snow sculpture viewing areas, ice and snow amusement parks, and ice and snow sports zones have been built on the frozen surface of the 100-li Hun River. The city is also developing large-scale ice and snow tourism projects such as the Thousand-Mu Dahuofang Reservoir and Ten-Thousand-Mu Ice and Snow World, as well as “one venue and three halls” sports facilities for ice and snow activities. Meanwhile, construction has begun on two distinctive ice and snow towns: the Qingyuan Skiing Town and the Gaowan Ice and Snow Sports Tourism Town. By 2024, Fushun aims to become a world-renowned, top-tier national destination for all-for-one, all-the-year-round tourism and leisure vacations. Beijing, as a national hub for tourism development and distribution, provides an ideal platform for collaboration. The purpose of holding this promotion event in Beijing is to learn from the city’s advanced tourism development practices, forge partnerships with leading travel companies, and further promote Fushun through the capital’s vast media and visitor networks. The goal is to raise awareness, spark interest, encourage visits, and foster love for Fushun. Drawing on the historical thread of Manchu culture, the city also seeks to co-create Manchu cultural tourism brands and jointly develop distinctive travel routes such as ancestral worship tours and trips to the “Three Capitals,” achieving resource sharing and mutual benefits. During the event, Mayor Ma specifically recommended Fushun’s top ten winter destinations: the Hot Gao Amusement Park’s Hot Spring Wellness World and Dynamic Sports World, Moonlit Island Ice and Snow Capital Park, People’s Square, Zihualing Snow Play Park, Sanjiaoshi National Forest Park, and the Magical Tiannv Mountain. He also highlighted ten types of activities including ice and snow tourism, winter sports, winter fashion, ice fishing, snow village adventures, and celebrating the New Year in the Manchu homeland. Additionally, he introduced eight unique travel routes such as Hot Gao’s Ice and Snow + Hot Springs, Moonlit Island’s Ice and Snow Wonderland, Xinqi’s Winter Fishing and Manchu New Year Celebrations, and Retracing the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces’ Route through the Snow. Representing Fushun – honored as one of China’s Top Ten Charming Cities – the mayor extended a warm invitation to all travelers to come to Fushun to “play in the snow, soak in hot springs, and celebrate the New Year in the Manchu homeland.”

The promotion conference was a great success.
