Xiejia Waizi Water Cave

Xiejia Waizi Water Cave is located on the left bank of the Taizi River, over ten li southeast of Wenquan Temple. The cave entrance lies beneath a steep cliff on the western foothills, with the shimmering waters of the Taizi River in front and lush, forested mountains behind, offering a picturesque setting. The cave mouth is 5.75 meters high and 20 meters wide. Inside, the cave is spacious and tall, divided into two sections: the left side is the water cave, and the right side is the dry cave. The water cave stretches 3 kilometers in length, with both width and height averaging around 10 meters, reaching up to 50 meters in width and 40 meters in height at their broadest points. The entire cave features thirteen turns, all of which are relatively wide, forming large, lofty chambers that present especially spectacular scenery. The water in the cave averages about 1 meter in depth, reaching up to 4 meters at its deepest. The water surface is calm and crystal clear. From the domed cave walls to the water’s edge, the cave is lined with uniquely shaped stalactites—resembling rare birds, wild animals, waterfalls, and parasols. These stalactites display a variety of colors, and under the illumination of colored lights, they sparkle brilliantly like an underwater crystal palace. Today, the site has been developed into a tourist attraction, drawing visitors from near and far to explore its wonders.
