The Site of the Western Expedition Conference of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

Site of the Western Expedition Conference. This site is located at the foot of Bijia Mountain in Tangou, Hubb Village, Caoguzhang Town. It was established to commemorate the first Western Expedition Conference presided over here by General Yang Jingyu, Commander and Political Commissar of the First Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. On May 4, 1985, initiated by the County Party History Office, the County Culture Bureau, and 14 other organizations, funds were raised from various sources to construct the Monument to the Site of the First Western Expedition Conference. The monument stands 3 meters tall, with a 1-meter-high top and a 3.5-meter-high base. The main body of the monument is made of granite. The inscription on the back of the main tablet describes how in the spring of 1936, General Yang Jingyu led his troops southward, decisively defeated the traitor Shao Benliang’s forces at Lishudianzi on April 30, inspected the Heshangmaozi base area in mid-to-late May, and presided over a military conference in Tangou to plan the western expedition of the First Regiment. In June, Song Tieran, Director of the Army Political Department, and Li Minhuan, Chief of Staff of the First Regiment, led their troops westward, reaching the borders of Liaoyang, Haicheng, Fengcheng, and Xiuyan. They then returned via Motianling on July 4, where they completely annihilated the Japanese Itoda Unit, achieving the great victory at Motianling.
