Shuangfeng Temple is located on the mountainside to the northwest of Shuangfeng Temple Village, Luolubao Town, in the southwest of Beizhen City. Surrounded by mountains on the south, north, and west, it boasts pleasant scenery that appeals to both refined and popular tastes. The temple faces south and measures 90 meters from north to south and 70 meters from east to west, covering an area of 6,300 square meters. Built against the mountain and situated on three terraced platforms, it is said that the first platform is 30 meters long from north to south and 40 meters wide from east to west. In the middle, there remains a building foundation measuring 12.2 meters in length and 7.2 meters in width, which locals identify as the original main hall foundation. It has a width of three bays and a depth of three bays, featuring a flush-gable roof. The roof perimeter is covered with tiles, while the central part is covered with reeds. Inside the hall, there were clay Buddhist statues and murals. The second platform is 25 meters long from north to south and 30 meters wide from east to west. The third platform is 35 meters long from north to south and 30 meters wide from east to west, built beneath a cliff. On the northern half of the platform, the foundations of a three-story building were discovered. The northern central tomb foundation is 10.5 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. The base is clear, with remnants of walls 0.5 meters high and 0.42 meters thick. On the eastern and western sides in front of the foundation, there are building foundations each measuring 9.7 meters long and 5.5 meters wide, which served as wing-room bases. Today, the surface of the platform is scattered with numerous fragments of bricks, tiles, porcelain, column bases, and broken stone tablets. All of these bear witness to the traces of history and the trials of war. The Shuangfeng Temple scenic area can be described as undulating with the hills and valleys, whispering along with the vicissitudes of time. Every peak, cave, and stone here is accompanied by beautiful legends. Although to varying degrees limited by feudal ideologies, they offer intellectual enrichment and spiritual cultivation, making the minor flaws overshadowed by the overall charm. Regarding the founding date of Shuangfeng Temple, according to the *Record of the Practices of the Great Monk Kong of Mingong in Shuangfeng, Lushan*, it was initially built in the 11th year of the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty (1446 AD) and was renovated in the 4th year of the Hongzhi era (1491 AD). During the Qing Dynasty to the Republican period, it underwent multiple repairs. In 1956, the temple was demolished by local residents, and the site was used by the People's Government of Beizhen County to build an infectious disease hospital. After the hospital was relocated, the site was abandoned, but the stone terraced platforms remain very well preserved. Today, the surface of the platform is scattered with numerous fragments of bricks, tiles, porcelain, column bases, and broken stone tablets. In 1996, due to a special karmic connection, this scenic ancient temple was discovered by visiting mountain-dwelling devotees and believers. Amazed by its presence, they resolved to revive this sacred Buddhist site and ancient temple. After years of arduous effort, with the care and support of governments at all levels, and the strong assistance of leaders and the public, the Shuangfeng Mountain Scenic Area was developed and restored into what it is today — a destination integrating religious activities, cultural architecture, natural landscapes, and sightseeing.
